Painting on Photocopies Workshop with John Legge

The girls took part in the 'Painting on Photocopies Workshop'
run by artist and photographer Jon Legge as part of the Wheee! Festival
which is held each year by Lakeside Arts.

Taking inspiration from the the Richard Hamilton exhibition,
they used digital photography to shoot self-portraits which were turned
into photocopies and then painted to produce unique artworks.

Both girls loved the workshop, Jon was great with them throughout
and although we ran out of time they came back armed with a bundle
of photocopies to finish working on here at home.

A Trial Run

A trial run in our new-to-us van.
There were a few teething problems.
Mainly of the chemical toilet variety.
And quite a bit of rain.
But we love it.

We camped at The Duke of York pub in Pomeroy,
(great camping facilities, and a beautiful view over the Peak District)
and had an amazing Sunday roast in the restaurant.

Newstead Abbey

A family photo shoot at Newstead Abbey this morning.
Formerly an Augustinian priory, it was converted to a domestic home
following the Dissolution of the Monasteries, and is now best known
as the ancestral home of Lord Byron.

St. Ann's Allotments

Now a Grade 2* listed site, The St Anns Allotments in inner city Nottingham
are thought to be the oldest and largest area of Victorian detached town gardens in the world.

The allotments are wild and beautiful and some plots still contain
Victorian summerhouses and glasshouses.

We got the date wrong for the Heritage Tour that we thought we were turning up for,
but were allowed to take a self guided tour instead. We were there for hours;
walked for miles round the Community garden, exploring the hidden trails and
peeking through gates and over hedges into the surrounding plots.
It's easily one of the most beautiful and peaceful places
I've ever visited in Nottingham, and I'm really looking forward to
visiting again for a Heritage Tour - on the right date this time.
